How to verify your business listing on Google

So, you’ve claimed your business on Google. Next you’ll be asked to verify your business to make sure you’re the best person to manage the business on Google.

You’ll need to complete the verification process to be able to manage your business information on Google.

The verification method available to you will depend on the type of business you manage. The most common way to verify your business is by postcard. Google will send a postcard with the unique verification code to the business address provided as soon as you request verification.

Make sure that the address you entered with your business details is accurate and complies with guidelines, including entering a complete and exact street address. Only include information that is part of your official address. Make sure to include your town, postcode and country. If you need to amend your address prior to verification click ‘verify later’.

It can take 1-2 weeks for the postcard to arrive. While you wait for the postcard do not edit your business details.

Once you receive the postcard in the mail and enter the verification code into your “Google My Business” account you’ll be able to edit your business information.

If it’s been more than two weeks since you requested the postcard contact Google…

Some businesses will have the option to verify by phone. If you see the phone verification option this is the fastest way to verify. Google will call at the business number listed to provide a verication number and confirm that the business details are correct.
